I know that there's some bigger thing for me to do with the extra time that I've been given and I'm chasing that thing down, tracking it in the forest maybe. It's hard for me to see, the woods being dark and all and so many ego-bright creative desires in my eyes. But I'm chasing it: I know it has to do with teaching or tending a garden and I won't stop looking.
In the meantime, there's art. Or maybe 'art'. Anyway, there are things I've always wanted to write and do. One of them is an erotic novel. I've written a few lascivious things before, little pieces, poems, the occasional love note but I've always wanted to stare at the thing itself without getting dizzy. Just for fun, ya know.
So I'm really happy to tell you that my first book of 2012 is Philadelphia Personal. It's published in e-book format by the wonderfully named Pink Flamingo Press. They say that if e-book sales are strong, they'll publish actual paper copies. I didn't use a pseudonym, too late for that. If I ever run for president, I'll just say that it was one of those other Lynn Hoffman's who penned this smut.

and I hope you will.
Next? There's a chapbook that's been accepted and The Short Course in Beer that's scheduled for May. While I'm waiting, I'm flogging a volume of poems called BOOM in love:
passionate poems for a certain generation and looking at a novel about love and longing in South Philly. I'm also reviving my picture lust, thinking that in the absence of a physical studio, I'll learn some digital techniques and play with that.
I know I should be saving the world, but this sure is fun.
